4. New assistants at Princeton, Virginia
BU's Debut and More
When IL visited Johns Hopkins two weeks ago for our Fall All Access series, we were intrigued but not entirely surprised that the program was in the early stages of incorporating a new offense for the 2014 season. Hopkins current (and future) roster features mostly smaller, quicker, off ball, high IQ players (your Rob Guidas and Wells Stanwicks if you will) and the coaches realized they need to emphasize those traits in the offense. This Sunday, Hopkins will have a chance to work out the Foamposite Nike
The full event schedule is here; below are five things to watch this weekend. Check back for tons of analysis, photos and videos of the weekend.
The Mountain Hawks replace two players on attack who were immensely instrumental in their back to back NCAA Tournament berths. Quarterback David DiMaria and slasher Dante Fantoni combined for 210 points in their junior and senior seasons. Just a year ago, coach Kevin Cassese had the task of replacing the Lao Gosney twins at the midfield, a process that took some time last Nike Air Mag 2017 Retail Price

This weekend brings a glimpse of the potential impact brought by high profile assistant coaching moves. John Walker, a former All American at West Point who spent four years on Dom Starsia staff at Virginia, heads to San Francisco for his first real action as a member of the Princeton Tigers staff, taking over defensive responsibilities there underneath Chris Bates. Walker is joined by Brad Conlon, who came to the Tigers after spending three seasons at Division II Pfiefer and coaching the Falcons defense and goalies. This weekend also sees the first time Starsia will coach alongside his son, Joe, who served as the defensive coordinator at Colgate in 2012 and 2013. Joe will assume the defensive responsibilities for the Cavaliers in the wake of Walker departure. Both Princeton and Virginia and the Cavaliers in particular look to rebound from what some might consider disappointing results in 2013, with the Tigers losing to Yale in the Ivy League tournament championship after knocking off Cornell and UVA missing the playoffs for the first time since 2004.
It an important weekend ahead for Team Canada, as 51 candidates for the 2014 roster will head to Buffalo to compete in a series of intra squad matchups and scrimmages against Denver, Robert Morris and Canisius. Leading up to the event, Team Canada head coach Randy Mearns said: my experience with the national program, I think it is safe to say that this is the deepest, most qualified group of Canadian field lacrosse players trying to earn a spot to represent Canada in the World Championships next July. pool of is decked with some of the most respected players in the game including John Grant Jr. and Brodie Merrill who are likely shoo ins. But there intrigue in how the rest of the roster fills out particularly, which current college and fresh out of college players will help bolster the unit and how the Team Canada coaching staff constructs a defensive midfield to answer the dynamic and athletic Team USA midfield that was a big reason for Canada silver medal finish in 2010. Also an interesting story to watch unfold will be in the cage, as the group of Nike Dunk Qs Michigan netminders trying out includes both potential returnees in Evan Kirk and Angus Dineley and Dillon Ward, who had a breakout season in college last spring at Bellarmine and went on to play for the Hamilton Nationals in the summer.
